The work carried out a theoretical analysis of the physique of the elderly. The test method was used to investigate whether or not to reveal whether the physique standards of the elderly differ from the generally accepted standards. To achieve the goal, tasks were set: to analyse the concept and classification of older people; reveal the problem of the physique of older people; identify factors that determine the change in the physioof the elderly; perform an analysis of the physique of older people at the Third Age University of Klaipėda University Faculty of Health Sciences. The results of the study revealed that the weight of the majority of subjects is between 50 kg and 90 kg and their lean body weight ranges from 40 to 50 kg; the body fat content of most subjects varies between 20% and 30% of their total body weight. Body mass index values range from 20 to 42. Based on the results of the study, it can be assumed that many older people who took part in the study are overweight or stage I or II obesity; the recommended weight for almost all study participants is lower than their current weight; almost all subjects have a different biological bodys' age score from their real age. The results of the study revealed that the individual value calculated by absolutely all older people exceeds the basic metabolic rate. As a result, most study participants have an obese body type; more than 80% of subjects have more weight; in most older people, the total body fluids exceed the norm; 40% of older people in the study had overall body fluids in line with the norm. The results of the remaining, including all male, exceed the rate. Only less than a third of older people have a normal body mass index. Based on the results of a study of the body physique of older people, it can be concluded that the body parameters of almost all subjects do not comply with generally accepted norms. Therefore, at the end of the work, recommendations were formulated for university students who are looking into the questions of analysis of the physique of older people and the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Lithuania. |
