Attitudes of women who have given birth to breastfeeding are determined by many factors, such as age, education, support for loved ones, socio economic status, knowledge of breastfeeding and health status. Health care professionals are required to follow the recommendations of the World Health Organization exclusive breastfeeding for up to 6 months, to continue breastfeeding with other foods after 6 months, and to start feeding during the first hour of a newborn's life. These recommendations are not sought by any country in the world, therefore in Lithuania it is important to analyze what depends on successful breastfeeding practice, what factors are important for women who have given birth in the decision to breastfeed, and when planning the duration of breastfeeding. |
