In this article there is being analysed development of service geography in the world and in Lithuania. There is a discussion about distribution of retail services and their peculiarities of territorial service within Klaipėda city, as well the development of service since 1990. According to the methods of researches there is determined territorial distribution of trade centres, their former and present proximities of service (gravitation fields), doubling functions, benefits and problems. Also, there is examined the structure of trade centres and retail networks. An application of modified Converse model and GIS methods both enabled to determine the optimal zones of retail services and service in Klaipėda city. The presence of practical research is based on interaction between science and practice, i.e. the collected, calculated and examined data about the retails and service. The implementation of methods and accomplishment of practical researches both induce the cooperation between the developers, practicians and educators of geography science. |
