Abstract [eng] |
The final Master thesis solves the problem of road bitumen reuse. Bitumen extracted from a road surface that has lost its performance characteristics could be restored to its original properties using rejuvenators. In the final master's thesis the processes of bitumen aging and their effect on mechanical properties, rejuvenators and rejuvenation methods are analyzed. The experimental study determined the physical (penetration, softening temperature) and functional (linear viscoelastic properties, complex shear modulus) properties of road bitumen renewed with soft road bitumen and aromatic oil. The analysis of the research results determined the effect of rejuvenating substances on the change of properties of polymer-modified road bitumen and proposed an algorithm for selecting the amount of rejuvenating material according to its functional properties. An algorithm for selecting the amount of polymer-modified bitumen rejuvenating material based on mechanical properties (dynamic shear modulus) is more efficient (mechanical properties have a real impact on road performance) and more cost-effective (in terms of time and cost) than physical properties (penetration and softening temperature) method. |
