Social work – is a relatively new, constantly changing profession in Lithuania, which seeks to respond to the needs and problems of the most vulnerable sections of society, therefore its activities include not only providing social assistance to an individual or family, but also forming social policy at all levels of self-government. Working with families at social risk is multifaceted, requiring specific knowledge, abilities, skills, distinctive character traits, a set of intrinsic personal qualities, strong aspirations to pursue a positive. A family at social risk is a family with various social, material, behavioral or health problems that hinder the proper functioning of the family, the full development and education of the child at home, and the provision of security. This is usually due to a number of interrelated factors: unemployment (lack of employment), lack of funds, dependency on social support, poverty, harmful habits of the family member (s), lack of interaction and inappropriate, violent behavior. Working with families at social risk is multifaceted, requiring specific knowledge, abilities, skills, distinctive character traits, a set of internal personality traits, and strong aspirations to pursue the positive. |
