When speaking about territorial development, tourism development is one of the key elements which should be ensured in order to increase the attractiveness of Šiauliai and its district. The aim of this Master’s work is to find out how to do this applying the concept of tourism destination marketing. The main obstacles to the development of tourism are indicated. What is more, taking into account the principles of tourism destination marketing, suggestions of how to solve the problem in the region are presented in this work. The first part of the work consists of the theoretical analysis of the content of place marketing that is the concept, peculiarities of the theory when applying it in different tourism destinations. Furthermore, the process of marketing is revealed. The second part of the work, according to the composed model of tourism destination marketing, is dealing with the present situation of marketing in Šiauliai and its district. The methodology, according to which the research of tourists and same-day visitors from Lithuania and foreign countries is carried out, is presented in the third part. The results and evaluation of the research are presented in the fourth part of the Master’s work. |
