| Abstract [eng] |
The basis of this master’s degree assignment is about Paul Hindemith’s Sonata’s for Viola Solo Op. 25. No.1 (1922) urtext and both it’s recordings made by the composer himself. The first recording, which only consists of fouth and fifth movement, was made in 1931, while the second, complete recording of this sonata was made in 1934.. The hypothesis of this assignment is that while Paul Hindemith was a violist himself, he performed this piece a little different than he has written himself. The main goal of this work is to determine premises for performance of this sonata, contradictions between urtext and author’s recordings. This assignment has three tasks: 1) To review Paul Hindemith’s composing traits, their relationship with author’s performing style. 2) Analyze Sonata for viola solo op. 25 No. 1 3) Compare both Hindemith’s recordings of this sonata. |
