Master's thesis goal - to analyze and evaluate the role of national parliaments in the EU legislative process. Thesis discusses reasons which have caused involvement of national parliaments in the EU's activities, historical overview of the national parliament’s powers in EU law-making process from the beginning of EU development till the Lisbon Treaty. Master thesis is focused on the principle of subsidiarity control mechanism which has been enshrined in Lisbon Treaty according to which national parliaments can participate in exercising the ex ante and ex post subsidiarity principle control mechanism. And finally there is analyzed mechanism how Lithuanian Parliament participates in the EU affairs. |
