| Abstract [eng] |
In The Final Master's Thesis, safety inspections of bicycle tracks are carried out in eight cities of Lithuania: Elektrėnai, Jonava, Kretinga, Mažeikiai, Palanga, Radviliškis, Šilutė and Utena. Inspections are carried out according to a preliminary standard questionnaire, which is compiled according to a systematized analysis of legal acts regulating the design of Lithuanian bicycle infrastructure. After the inspections, it was found that the existing bicycle infrastructure of the studied cities is poor and unsafe - 2641 units of deficiencies were identified within 223,00 km (on average 11.8 defects per 1 km). The most frequently recorded groups of deficiencies are deficiencies in marking (46.9%), obstacles and unsecured safety zones (25.1%), deficiencies in the condition of the pavement, width and inappropriate track type (16.3%), separation of bicycles from other road users and between disadvantages of unclear traffic priority (8.2%). After the safety inspections of bicycle tracks, the preliminary standard questionnaire was adjusted, which in the final version is divided into 13 criteria groups with corresponding standard questions. According to this standard questionnaire, it is possible to carry out regular safety inspections of cycling tracks throughout Lithuania. The Thesis consists of 6 parts: introduction, Lithuanian and European Union cycling track development strategy and analysis of the accident rates, analysis of legal acts regulating cycling infrastructure design and traffic safety inspection procedures, cycling track infrastructure safety inspections, conclusions, recommendations, list of literature. The Thesis consists of 64 pages (excluding the Appendixes), 46 illustrations, 7 tables, 23 references. |
