The aim of this research – reveal the role of professional reflection in the activities of social workers of the Social assistance division of the Administration of district X municipality. To achieve the goal, the following tasks of the work were set: to discuss the characteristic of reflection; to analyze the importance of reflection and strategies in the professional activity of a social worker; to determine the role of professional reflection in the practice of social workers of the Social assistance division of the Administration of district X municipality by empirical research. Research participants – 10 social workers working in the Social assistance department of the Administration of district X municipality. Empirical research has revealed that the characteristic of reflection includes: the cognitive process, the perception of beliefs, values, attitudes and reactions; learning through experience, is a critical assessment of actions by identifying weaknesses and professional development leading to purposeful and effective change. The importance of reflection in the professional activities of social workers is reflected – on a personal, professional and organizational level, manifested both in better emotional and psychological state of social workers, in the more efficient performance of professional functions, and in the higher quality of the services provided. The role of professional reflection in the practice of social workers of the Social assistance division of the Administration of district X municipality is assessed as an effective tool that helps to solve personal, professional, organizational ant collective difficulties arising in professional activities. The results of the study showed that the strenghts of reflection on the professional activities of Social assistance division of the Administration of district X municipality are – ensuring emotional well-being, identifying solutions to emerging professional difficulties, strengthening of collective relationships, personal and professional development, while the weak ones are the unforeseen goal of reflection, exaggerated expectations are raised, the process is identified as an addition function of activity, and there is a lack of specific time reflection, limited opportunities to apply the acquired knowledge in professional activities are revealed. |
