This research work analyses peculiarities of performer’s expressions and his/hers possibilities in the contemporary academic music field. Main object is the performer of contemporary music. The work consists of two parts. The first part discusses performer’s functions and characteristics in various eras.The second part analyses performer’s role in the contemporary academic music. In the second part performer’s role in the contemporary music is analysed. It goes more in depth into his/hers relationship with other creators and other fields of art. The challenges that are encountered during preparations are considered. As well as the new technical tasks that emerge when the musical language is altered. The research work aims to showcase close relationship between the performer and other creators. Collaboration is the most accurate way to convey performer’s and creator’s ideas. In the postmodern period composers abundantly use new composition tools - extended techniques. Several pieces of music are used as example to indicate the complexity of postmodern music. It is stated that the use of these new music practices and traditions require an immense technical preparation and knowledge. Todays performer’s work consists of two parts: musical preparation and creative-organisational work. The emphasis is put on the importance of the communication between the performer and listener in the context of contemporary music. Management and promotion help convey artist’s ideas and plays an important part in reaching listener. Technology is another significant influencer in the relationship between performer and listener in the XXI century, for example online music platforms, channels and social media. |
