First part of the thesis consists of the biographies of the New Ideas Chamber Orchestra NICO and it’s founder, composer Gediminas Gelgotas. Second part consists of the analysis of the musical performing principles and the work organization of NICO. Theoretic part unveiled that NICO performs minimal music repertoire by memory and integrates different art forms, such as minimal choroegraphy, visualizations and design into their performances, thus creating a unique performing concept. Research results helped to discover, that the ensemble performs as a chamber music group with a conductor. |
