In the research master's thesis „J. S. Bach-F. Busoni Chaconne in D minor: Aspects of the peculiarity of the language and interpretation of music“ provides an overview of the evolution of the transcription genre, as well as the valuable contribution of Ferruccio Busoni who was one of the most prominent pianists, composers and transcriptionists of the late 19th – early 20th century. Particular attention is paid to Bach-Busoni's transcription of Chacone in D minor for piano and its mastery and importance in the context of piano literature. Performing Bach-Busoni piano transcriptions requires the pianist to have the highest level of mastery and artistic preparation. A number of times performer is faced with various dilemmas of interpretation, especially – of stylistics nature, as in the musical composition coexist artistic ideas of composers from two different epochs and expression of distinctive styles. |
