Abstract [eng] |
Based on an example of Vilnius drill bit production factory, which is located on Birželio 23-iosios street, this master’s thesis investigates the specifics in conversion of industrial buildings in Vilnius Naujamiestis district. The thesis analyses the use of the term “conversion” in different cases, reviews the history of Vilnius Naujamiestis district, district’s structure and its problems, and assesses the potential of conversion in solving these problems. The thesis examines the south-west part of the Naujamiestis more thoroughly – seven industrial sites were selected there and according to the result of accomplished comparison one of the picked sites was detached – the former drill bits production factory. Few researches on the main building of the selected factory are put in this thesis: historical research, architectural, structural and functional assessments, analysis of the valuable features of the building, registration and evaluation of the physical condition of the building. Based on the results of carried out tasks and thesis conclusions, this paper proposes conceptual solutions (site plan, building functional zoning, building architecture and construction) for the conversion of the main building in the selected factory. Structure: introduction, 4 chapters (1 theoretic analytic and methodological research chapter, 2 analytic investigative research chapters, 1 project-based experimental chapter), conclusions, references, appendixes Thesis consists of: 83 p. text without appendixes, 31 pictures, 5 tables, 79 bibliographical entries, 1 appendix. |
